Road Locked Down And Residents Evacuated After ‘potentially Hazardous Substances’ Found

Part of a Glasgow street has been locked down and residents evacuated following the discovery of “potentially hazardous substances” within a property, police have said.

Emergency services closed off a section of Shettleston Road on Tuesday afternoon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Local residents have been evacuated as a precaution and members of the public are asked to avoid the area.”

Shettleston Road has been closed at Fernan Street, St Mark Street, Blair Street and Old Shettleston Road.

The force spokesperson added: “Enquiries into the incident are continuing.”
